Following training as a dressmaker with a couture atelier in Dusseldorf, Nicole arrived in London in 1987 with her sewing machine in her rucksack.
Within the first six months of arrival she was fortunate to be discovered by the BBC and continued to work on costumes for television, national and international movies, alongside designers such as Lindy Hemming and Jean Paul Gaultier.
She fell in love with Sussex whilst making costumes for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and decided to stay in Brighton. With a desire to return to fashion, Nicole designed her first independent collection in 1997 and her accessories collection was sold at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores in the USA.
'Nicole Urbanski Boutique' opened in 2011, where she stocks her own label, offering a bespoke service, as well as collections from France, Germany and Denmark.
In 2012 it was chosen by Joan Rivers to film an episode of her reality show 'Joan knows best'.
A few years ago she developed a passion for writing about her journey of fortune, discovery and self-realisation.
In 2017 she closed the boutique to free up more time offering a full bespoke dressmaking service as well as working on the second draft of her mystery story.
